Birthday Celebration

Yesterday was full of activities.

We woke up early to bring J to his Sunday school. It is difficult to bring J to Sunday school at church because he does not warm up so easily to new things or strangers close to his age. So, we decided to try the Sunday school at his preschool. He cried during his first attendance despite the familiar surroundings. *Sigh* Anyway, since his Nanay and Tatay were both present for support, he was participative yesterday during Sunday school. Praise God.

Then we went to church. Just the 3 of us. We did not bring R because she is just an infant and might be fussy during the service. I was really blessed by the sermon, especially since I need to stay strong.

Afterward, we went home to pick up R and the rest of the family to have a lunch get-together to celebrate Roni's birthday. Roni, by the way, is my one and only husband. *Please imagine me smiling and giggling while saying it*  And these are what we had:

The Legend Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant served their usual sumptuous meal. There was a birthday celebration in the main area, so we were given a VIP room. We had a private room without the worries of consumable cover charge. God is really good!


We went to Serendra to have desserts at Gelatissimo. I had Chocolate with Truffle while Roni had Mocha Nutty Crunch. Pure bliss!

While we were licking our ice creams, J was sulking because he wanted to go to the toy store at Bonifacio High Street but we told him to wait.

Being in the middle of the events in our lives, we sometimes do not get the whole picture. I have to admit that there were times when I asked God why He would let some things happen despite my obedience. Some had whispered that it was just a waste to remain sticking to the rules inasmuch as many perceived otherwise.

But then, troubles come to us to make us stronger emotionally and spiritually, because during these times that the non-physical muscles are flexed, stretched, and tested. Eternal Glory --- that is what we should always aim for.

Picnic By The Bay

We were finally able to wake up early on a weekend to go to the bay and enjoy the sea breeze, albeit polluted. Every one was under the weather these past few weeks and was hoping that the salty air would help clear the lungs or, at least, unclog the nose.

Anyway, we brought breakfast which consisted mainly of pan de sal with peanut butter and water. My son J had so much fun playing in the public playground near the bay while waiting for the morning sun. We even saw some birds catching fish in the bay!

Special Agent Oso is one of the characters my son loves. When Oso commits mistakes, he would say that it is all part of his plan even though we know otherwise. However, as believers and followers of Christ, we know that all the events in our life, no matter how drastic they may be, are part of God's plan. Remember how Job endured his sufferings? The devil may have asked God to touch Job, but there were numerous reasons for God's permission. One of which is to inspire us who have read the story to pursue, persevere, and continue with utmost sincerity our faith in Him. Isn't it reassuring that amidst the storm, we know that our life is still in God's hands?

It is not a suggestion or encouragement. Rather, it is a COMMAND to be strong and courageous, and not be afraid or terrified. I have encountered fear many times. It does nothing but paralyze my being: physically, emotionally and spiritually. Further, it eats up MY joy! Instead of having fun and enjoying the blessings in life, I find myself worrying and waiting for an evil thing to happen which will deprive me of my joy, not knowing that in that process, it has already snatched away the very same thing I was trying to protect. Henceforth, and due to sound reason, I will obey this commandment as often as I could until it becomes a habit and an attitude.

And The Saga Goes On...

Last year, Ron bought Rick Riordan's series of Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Needless to say, we were hooked. It was a fun read. And we were blessed that we did not purchase the first book when it was published in 2005 else I would have gone crazy waiting for the next of the series, which is happening to me now that I have read The Lost Hero.

Anyway, the Lost Hero is the first of The Heroes of Olympus series and the continuation of the Percy Jackson series wherein The Last Olympian had given the prophecy:

"Seven half-bloods shall answer the call.
To storm or fire, the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death."
